The main focus of the work of DKG specialist area 5 "Silicate ceramics" (DKG FG 5) is the extremely diverse field of application of silicate ceramics.
The specialist conferences of FG 5 "Silicate ceramics" are thematically selected so that the following areas are covered in the annual one to two-day events:

- Processing technology
- Shaping
- Drying technology
- Sintering technology
- Materials engineering (ceramic materials and glazes)
The main focus is on the silicate ceramic sectors of electroporcelain, sanitaryware and kitchen sinks, tiles, tableware and catalysts. The target groups of the conferences are the scientific, engineering personnel in the companies (ceramic production, suppliers, research institutes, universities and colleges), but also sales representatives, business economists and managing directors of these industries are addressed. The conferences make a major contribution to closer cooperation between research, theory and practice. Therefore, in preparation of these events, the thematic focal points are developed in each case by a team of experts from industry and research.
