The DKG specialist area 1 "Structural ceramics" (DKG FG 1) focuses on ceramic applications in the chemical, mechanical and plant engineering sectors.
The DKG FG 1 offers interested users of technical ceramics the opportunity to contact manufacturers and research institutes. Clarifying the requirements of users and discussing technical feasibility with manufacturers is at the forefront of the division's activities. Cooperation with trade fairs or other professional associations is supported in a targeted manner. Meetings are always held in the context of scientific conferences or trade fairs.

Thematic priorities are:

  • High-precision ceramic components for the semiconductor industry (e.g. process chambers, wafer handling, substrate carriers)
  • Ceramic materials for the defence sector (e.g. ballistic protection, sensor technology, high-temperature applications)
  • Large-format structural ceramics for machine, plant and special construction with high requirements for dimensional accuracy and load-bearing capacit
  • Ceramic tools for friction stir welding (FSW) with high wear and temperature resistance
  • Development and optimisation of manufacturing technologies for large-volume and highly stressed ceramic components, taking into account fracture probability and service life
  • Cooperation on testing new materials and design concepts in industrial applications
