Scene Decarbonization in the DKG

Founded in 2022, the Decarbonization Scene is an open exchange platform of the DKG, which is also to be used for communication with politicians, funding bodies, and society, and for the development of research projects. The production of ceramics is an energy-intensive process associated with high CO2 emissions. On the other hand, ceramics encompass a wide range of materials and applications that will contribute significantly to the energy transition.

Two main topics will therefore be addressed:

  • The decarbonization of the ceramics industry (silicate ceramics, bricks, refractory ceramics, and technical ceramics)
  • The role of the ceramics industry in the decarbonization of society (through hydrogen synthesis and purification, fuel cells, battery materials, etc.)
